Apple's Commission Ruling Sparks Changes in Kindle App and Beyond
Following a recent court ruling, Apple must cease charging a 27% commission on in-app purchases, prompting changes in Amazon's Kindle iOS app. Now featuring a “Get Book” button, the app allows users to buy titles via their mobile web browser, enhancing convenience. Amazon spokesperson Tim Gillman highlighted this improvement for customer experience. Previously, purchasing or viewing book prices through the Kindle app was prohibited. Other companies like Spotify are also adapting by enabling pricing details and external payment links. Although complying with the ruling, Apple has filed an appeal, opposing the decision.
